The median sales price for a three bedroom home was $195,000 in April 2007; rent for a three bedroom home is $170-$200 per week. Residential developments continue at a steady pace; during 2006 for example, the Waitaki District Council processed 52 applications for subdivision consents. There is also a constant demand for upgrades and renovations by those preferring older character homes.
